Walz Tetrick Advertising (WTA), a leading full-service creative and media agency in Kansas City, announced that it has acquired Ruth Burke & Associates (RB&A), a Kansas City-based media planning, buying and consulting firm. Together, the two agencies create one of the largest independently owned media groups in the region. The acquisition reinforces WTA’S approach to serving world-class brands and adds depth in many of the categories it serves, most notably restaurant, entertainment and higher education.
The agencies share a focus on driving results that generate industry-leading response and conversion rates. RB&A’s 35 years of experience and expertise align closely with those of 50-year-old WTA. Together their strategic consulting, media planning and buying, digital focus and data analytics create a high-volume media powerhouse.
“Creating a work environment that fosters speed, agility, collaboration and innovation is essential to media success,” said Charlie Tetrick, president and CEO, WTA. “This is a strong cultural fit with another long-standing KC agency we’ve known and respected for years.”
“It was important to us to join a company with complementary values and attributes—a combination of industry excellence, personality and long-term relationship building,” said Sarah Malone, partner, RB&A.
Another commonality is emphasis on building long-standing relationships with top-tier brands. RB&A brings to the table Applebee’s, Papa Murphy’s, Schlitterbahn and 15 additional local and national accounts. Similarly, WTA prides itself on long-term relationships with American Dairy Queen, the American Royal, Olathe Health and the Kansas City Royals among others.
Sally O’Neill, partner, RB&A, commented, “As we sought to join a company that would help take us to the next level, the most important consideration was a focus on creating customer experiences that drive outstanding message performance. Walz Tetrick was the natural choice.”
Combined, the agencies have been honored with seven Media Agency of the Year awards, five Agency Media Professional of the Year awards, five Diane Freels Awards for Media Excellence, four Media Pioneer awards, and a long history of other industry recognition. They leverage buying power in all U.S. markets and Canada.
“We are excited about the synergies that will result from this move, beginning with our shared client categories and supporting the expansion of our capabilities in years to come,” said Linda Norfleet, partner, RB&A.
The newly formed group will work from two locations through the end of the year, consolidating in January 2018 at the 6299 Nall Avenue location in Mission, Kan.
